Energy Learning Network

The Energy Learning Network is powering forward community energy projects across the UK

Powering Forward Community Energy

Community Energy Scotland is a delivery partner of the Energy Learning Network, which brings together collaborators across the UK to strengthen the community energy sector. We support people and organisations to take action on energy in their communities, while working with councils, stakeholders and other enablers to create the conditions for community energy to grow and thrive.

Technical Helpline

The ELN Technical Helpline provides technical support and advice to Community Energy groups covering:

  • Energy Generating Technologies; Energy Efficiency Measures; Energy Monitoring; Metering, Bills & Tariffs; Data Analysis; Carbon Auditing; Feasibility Study; Options Appraisals; Income Generation Models (e.g. Local Energy Markets); Transport Infrastructure; Grid Connections.
  • Support and advice can be provided at any stage of a project, from those at initial development phase or community engagement, through to those with existing infrastructure. Note this support focuses on small, specific questions rather than tackling large or complex queries.
  • See this link for the helpline Online question form which will be assessed by the technical support team to check it’s something they can help with. Please note you may be contacted by them for more information or to arrange a call.

Widening Participation Toolkit

Our ELN partner, the Centre for Sustainable Energy, have developed this valuable toolkit that brings together the learnings from the Energy Learning Network, and the experience of the participating community groups. It was made possible thanks to the input and collaboration from 23 organisations.

Using this toolkit will help community energy groups increase their impact through greater involvement of people from across their communities.

Collaborate with the Energy Learning Network

The Energy Learning Network is more than a partnership of organisations; it is shared infrastructure for the UK community energy sector, helping collaborators to share learning, avoid duplication, identify gaps and work together in ways that strengthens the sector as a whole UK wide.

Contact Community Energy Scotland’s Energy Learning Network Officer, Cath Curd cath.curd@communityenergy.scot, to explore collaboration opportunities, including:

  • Use the network as a platform to share your learning – become a paid peer mentor or co-deliver webinars and events.
  • Partner on our Community Energy resource directory – add your resources to increase uptake and get access to insights to develop your resources.
  • Collaborate on Projects to Reduce Barriers and Accelerate Learning for Community Energy, or explore joint tender opportunities with us.
