- Do you have views on how communities should benefit from hosting wind farms, hydro or solar farms?
- Would you like all communities to have viable routes to owning a share of new windfarms and other clean energy and storage developments, as in Denmark and Germany?
- Do you think that all communities, urban and rural, should benefit from and be part of the energy transition?
Scottish Community Coalition on Energy believes that communities should have more control over our energy system and should receive a larger share of the wealth that it generates. We are calling for stronger Scottish Government guidance for developers, higher benchmarks for community benefit payments, and incentives for developers to make community shared ownership work.
We encourage all community energy groups to share your views through the Scottish Government’s consultation. We need a strong response from the community energy sector, to ensure that processes and standards are improved, not held at standstill or watered down, to ensure a Fair Energy Deal for Scottish communities.
To help, we have drafted pointers for responding. These are intended to help you think through and write your own response.
The consultation deadline is 11th April.
