CES would like to thank all Scottish community energy organisations who submitted responses to 2024’s Community Energy State of The Sector (SOTS) survey. We are delighted to present the first of two planned outputs telling the story of community energy in the UK in 2022 and 2023.
Produced by Community Energy England, Community Energy Wales and Community Energy Scotland, this first publication is our UK sector overview which provides a summary of the community energy sector’s activities and impacts over the past two years.
We encourage you to share the overview document across your networks and have provided the main infographic s a standalone file you can use for PowerPoint presentations.
We paused our research in 2022 to change the way we collect data but the sector kept on delivering throughout 2022 and 2023, despite the challenging policy environment. As the overview shows, community energy organisations have demonstrated remarkable resilience and adaptability during recent years, which is demonstrated by the continued growth of the sector across the UK.
Next Steps
Our second SOTS output will published later this summer and will tell more of the sector’s story and provide a more detailed look at the sector’s activities, so keep your eyes peeled for news in your inbox and social media feeds.
If you didn’t complete our SOTS survey this year then we’d love to hear from you next year so we can present the most comprehensive and accurate picture of the sector as possible. If you haven’t already registered, then get ahead of the game and register your details on our portal today: https://sots.dev.communityenergy.scot/
