Tom Noble
Technical Officer
Tom’s role involves delivering support to the wider CES team on the technical aspects of projects, including Carbon Neutral Islands (CNI), Island Centre for Net Zero (ICNZ) and Rural Energy Hubs (REH).
I joined the CES team in August 2024, and my role involves supporting the larger CES team on the technical aspects of projects.
I graduated with a Mechanical Engineering with Renewable Energy degree (MEng) from the University of Edinburgh in 2020. After this I worked at the University of Edinburgh as a materials researcher for several years, focusing on composite materials with applications in renewables. This included projects on hydrogen storage, the use of recycled composite materials, and the applications of sensors and automation. My interest in having a positive impact on the environment and people brought me to Community Energy Scotland, where I hope I can contribute my knowledge to community focused projects.
Outside of work I enjoy baking, walking, climbing mountains, running, and wild swimming. I am also interested in rewilding, and as a volunteer I have spent time tree planting and removing of non-native plant species in Scotland.
