We are delighted to present the 2025 State of the Sector report for Community Energy in the UK. This annual report, produced collaboratively by Community Energy England, Community Energy Wales and Community Energy Scotland, highlights the achievements and impact of community energy organisations across the UK.
Organisations contributed to our annual survey that collects data on renewable energy generation, decarbonisation and energy saving activities, sectoral funding and finance, and much more. This information is vital in producing a clear picture of community energy in the UK and the report will be used to inform policy, advocate for support and provide the data that can enable the growth of community energy initiatives nationwide.
At a time when fuel poverty is rising and the cost-of-living crisis continues to affect millions, organisations working towards a fairer, locally led energy system, and renewable energy generation that directly benefits communities, is more important than ever. We hope this report will demonstrate the value of this work and strengthen the case for community led solutions.
