The Community Energy State of the Sector research provides the most comprehensive and inclusive review of community energy in the UK and is carried out annually by Community Energy Scotland, Community Energy England and Community Energy Wales. The research has been quoted across a range of outlets and is consistently used by politicians, civil servants, researchers, community energy enterprises and many other key sector stakeholders.
State of the Sector 2025
We are delighted to present the 2025 State of the Sector report for Community Energy in the UK. This annual report, produced collaboratively by Community Energy England, Community Energy Wales, and Community Energy Scotland, highlights the achievements and impact of community energy organisations across the UK.
Organisations contributed to our annual survey that collects data on renewable energy generation, decarbonisation and energy saving activities, sectoral funding and finance, and much more. This information is vital in producing a clear picture of community energy in the UK and the report will be used to inform policy, advocate for support and provide the data that can enable the growth of community energy initiatives nationwide.
How you can provide data
Data can be provided using our online portal which is open all year.
