Heat networks, car club insurance, financing community energy – three in depth online sessions hosted at Community Energy Scotland in early July.
We’re pleased to share the outcomes of our recent webinars, where we delved into topics that our members identified as most beneficial. These sessions brought together leading experts, fostering rich engagement and insightful discussions among our member groups and beyond.
The webinars not only provided a platform for knowledge sharing but also offered useful networking opportunities. We appreciate the active participation from all the attendees, which added value to each event.
See session recordings and notes from each webinar below.
Heat Networks
Many homes across the UK are not connected to the gas network and rely heavily on high-carbon fossil fuels such as oil, liquefied petroleum gas or electric heating. Heating Swaffham Prior, a community project initiated by the Swaffham Prior Community Land Trust (CLT) was born as a pioneering attempt to phase out fossil-fuelled heating in the village with a sustainable and greener alternative to oil. Hear from this ground-breaking heat network in a Cambridgeshire village and how they delivered a rural district heat network through community cooperation in partnership with the county council.
Car Club Insurance
CES and CoMoUK discuss car club insurance for communities. A number of communities across Scotland have faced issues with insurance for community car clubs. Our members share some issues and discuss solutions. CoMoUK share valuable insights and tips to help you navigate the different insurance options for your community car club.
Financing Community Energy Projects
CES and Thrive Renewables discuss different funding mechanisms available to community groups to support community energy initiatives. We also hear from and explore the case study of the successful Radio City Association in Kilbirnie.
