The 2024 Community Energy Scotland Annual Members’ Conference was a fantastic gathering of organisations committed to driving community energy forward. This year’s theme, “The Community Energy Ripple Effect: Maximising Positive Impact”, focused on how local initiatives can create varied and lasting change for communities. With 94 individuals from 68 organisations, the event offered a friendly platform for sharing knowledge, experiences, and strategies.
Delegates benefitted from a range of presentations from diverse groups and significant networking opportunities.
Workshops covered key topics vital to the sector. Workshops on Active Travel, Energy Efficiency, Community Benefits from Commercial Wind Farms, and How to Communicate and Evaluate Impact shared case studies, practical advice and invited discussion between organisations.

The panels covered crucial topics, particularly on Diversity, Inclusion and Community Engagement, which tackled the importance of making community energy projects more accessible to underrepresented groups. The Solar PV session discussed the barriers and opportunities in expanding solar energy across communities.
This year’s conference reaffirmed the power of communities to lead the energy transition. The full conference report is now available, providing detailed notes from all the sessions and workshops.
We are grateful to our headline sponsor, SP Energy Networks and our supporting sponsor, Younity, for their support for the event and their input on the day. This event wouldn’t have been possible without our member organisations who delivered a range of sessions.
