I work on the Launchpad Project, supporting community groups to set up renewable energy initiatives.

My background is mainly in climate action and retrofit. I studied Architecture at the Glasgow School of Art, where I wrote a dissertation on the demolition of social housing in Glasgow and worked closely with the Wyndford Residents Union on their campaign to save the high flats. As a student, I was also involved in direct action with JSO Scotland and briefly worked as an arts coordinator.

In 2022, I joined Loco Home Retrofit CIC, a community energy co-op focused on home retrofit. I later became their Community Development Officer, where I worked on projects such as Glasgow Retrofit Conversations, developed a volunteer programme, organised events (including member meet-ups and webinars), and led on marketing and communications.

While I value theory, I’m most interested in the practicalities and nitty-gritty of the retrofit process. I’ve seen how details can make or break a project. I recently retrofitted my own old, hard-to-heat flat on a tight budget – transforming it from “seeing-your-breath-in-the-morning” cold to a cosy, insulated, all-electric home with a heat pump.

I take climate breakdown seriously and want to see the end of fossil fuel dependence in my lifetime – led by communities benefitting directly from clean, green energy.

Originally from Dumfries and Galloway, I’m now based in Glasgow city centre. I’m a keen DIYer with a strong interest in sustainable materials, electrification, and ‘doing my bit’ for the planet.
