Laura supports our members in the Community Power Outer Hebrides group, having worked with many of them historically when they were first setting up.

Since starting her first job at Community Energy Scotland 17 years ago, Laura has been inspired and driven by those community organisations she worked with who were developing ‘revenue generating’ community energy projects.

She left in 2012 to set up a cafe and bicycle workshop social enterprise in Inverness, returning in 2015 for a year before moving to Local Energy Scotland to work with Shared Ownership groups.

In 2018 Laura went to Sabhal Mòr Ostaig to study Gàidhlig and went on to work for Fèisean nan Gàidheal, an umbrella organisation for the Fèis movement, supporting and encouraging young people to learn traditional music, Gàidhlig culture and dance. She now works most of the time as a mam to two young children and has been working part time for Impact Hub Inverness supporting social enterprises across the Highlands and Islands from 2022 until the start of 2026.

In her spare time she loves to cycle, build community (mainly using soup and cake!) and spend time outdoors. She is delighted to be back at Community Energy Scotland to work with groups from the Outer Hebrides, a special place to her, with her roots firmly in South Uist.
