Liz is responsible for our policy and advocacy work, ensuring the voices of our members are heard by key decision makers in our sector and beyond. 

Liz leads on Community Energy Scotland’s policy and advocacy work. This includes developing policy positions on relevant issues (using input from member organisations and the Community Energy Scotland team), building support for our policies amongst politicians, partners and the public, and feeding into the development of policy and legislation at the Scotland and UK levels. 

Before joining Community Energy Scotland in November 2025, Liz was most recently head of Scottish campaigns for social justice campaign organization Global Justice Now – playing a part in the global campaign for a treaty to set a framework for an end to fossil fuels and a fair transition to renewable energy worldwide.   

Liz has previously worked as a researcher at the Scottish Parliament, a campaigner on environmental justice for Friends of the Earth Scotland and a campaigner on green economics and climate change for Greenpeace International and UK. 

Liz is on the board of Stop Climate Chaos Scotland, a coalition of more than 70 organisations across Scotland campaigning on climate change, and the board of Scotland the Bread, a small organization in Fife with a big ambition for Scotland to grow better grain, bake better bread and make it accessible to everyone. 

Liz is a keen fruit and veg grower, having had an allotment for many years.
