Erin Koon

Community Energy Officer

Erin joined Community Energy Scotland in 2025 as a Community Energy Officer at the North East Climate Hub in Aberdeen, supporting local communities to explore practical and inclusive approaches to the energy transition. She holds an MSc in Energy Transitions and Sustainability from Robert Gordon University, where her work focused on renewable energy feasibility, strategy, and the social aspects of decarbonisation.

Before moving into the energy sector, Erin spent nine years teaching internationally, developing a strong interest in community engagement and environmental education. While teaching in Azerbaijan, she founded a student hiking club that combined outdoor learning with local environmental action.

Erin is passionate about making climate and energy initiatives accessible and meaningful for everyone. She enjoys learning new skills and finding creative ways to connect people and ideas. Outside of work, she spends her time traveling, hiking and cycling around Scotland, taking sewing classes at her local community centre, and she recently joined a beekeeping association.
